Year 11 - Key Piece of Work (KPOW)

Year 11 Key Piece of Work: Due 16/3/06

Think of at least six questions to ‘ask’ this database – these will be answered by creating queries which will search the database. Your questions must be realistic, the typical kinds of questions that the Arena staff would want answer to. You should also state a reason for needing to do this search. E.g.

* Search for a person’s contact telephone by surname or membership number
* Search for all the classes taken by a particular instructor
* Search for all the members of a particular class
* Search for all the classes on a particular day
* etc, etc

To be able to search and find the answers in the database, the relevant data must be stored there in the first place. Your KPOW should be written in Word and will consist of text for the questions and reasons, and tables for the query designs (as shown in class).

Recent GCSE ICT Homeworks - Mr. Jones

Here's a reminder about the last three GCSE Applied ICT Homeworks that have been set:

Homework: Due 28/2/06

Create a screen input form for each of your three tables. You may draw this neatly by hand and stick it into your documentation, or use a drawing program to do it. Either way, three designs must appear in your design section.

Homework: Due 7/3/06

To produce your Test Data for the ICT Systems Project. Your test data should include normal, extreme and erroneous data to fully test how the database system handles each type. You should have:

* 20 Records for members with all their details
* 10 Classes with details e.g. Step Aerobics, Monday, 5pm, Studio 1, Mr. Smith etc

Each member needs to be enrolled in at least one class (some will have more) so there will be at least 20 enrolments.

Examples of what these forms should look like have been shown in lessons.

Homework: Due 9/3/06

Create a data capture form for the Bolton Arena database. This is the form that new members will complete with their details when they join the Arena. It should have all the same fields in it as the members’ table, because this will be used to enter each new members’ details into the database.
